Vivo Companion Privacy Notification

1. General

MLC Limited ABN 90 000 000 402 (“MLC Life Insurance”, “we”, “our”) collects your personal information so that we can administer the Vivo Companion mobile app and website and services available on them (collectively referred to as “Vivo Companion”).

The purpose of this privacy notification is to provide you with general information about how we collect and manage your personal information in relation to Vivo Companion. For further information about how MLC Life Insurance handles personal information, please review our privacy policy at https://www.mlcinsurance.com.au/privacy-policy, as updated from time to time (Privacy Policy).

We may review and update this privacy notification. If we do so, we will publish an amended privacy notification on the Vivo Companion app and our website at https://www.vivowellbeing.com.au/vivo-companion#privacy-notice

By providing your information to us, you confirm that you have been notified of the matters and consent to the collection, use, disclosure and handling of your personal information as described in this notification and our Privacy Policy.

2. How we collect your personal information?

In respect of Vivo Companion, we collect personal information in the following ways:

(a) from you and your interactions within Vivo Companion; and
(b) from third party health devices or apps that you connect to the Vivo Companion app.

3. What information do we collect?

When you access and use Vivo Companion, we ask that you provide accurate and necessary information that enables us to administer the app. The personal information we may collect and hold, includes:

(a) basic personal information including height, weight, age, date of birth, sex, and name;
(b) personal contact information;
(c) unique identifiers such as username and password;
(d) health information such as details about your family history (especially relating to health concerns or clinical issues), details about your lifestyle and activities (including underlying geolocation data), clinical information and similar data enabling us to provide you with the health score; and
(e) activity information including information about your activities on the app, including participation in goals and challenges.

If you do not provide us with your personal information, we may not be able to offer you the full benefits of Vivo Companion. This means that:

(f) we will not be able to generate an accurate health score or sync with your third party health devices or apps;
(g) you may not receive accurate spotlights or other communications; and
(h) some features of the app may not work as intended or may be limited.

4. How we use your personal information?

We use your personal information:

(a) to gather your health, well-being and fitness activity to enable us to calculate your health score;
(b) to communicate with you;
(c) to administer and facilitate the operation of the Vivo Companion app;
(d) to track and monitor your usage of the Vivo Companion app;
(e) for direct marketing purposes, unless you opt out;
(f) to identify and support vulnerable customers;
(g) for data analytic and research purposes (only using de-identified and aggregated data);
(h) to detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; and
(i) as required or permitted by law;

We will not use any of the personal information that you input into the Vivo Companion app for any claim assessments, claim decision making, claim payments or underwriting purposes, for any of your existing or any new life insurance policies that you may apply for in the future.

With your prior consent, we may use some of this personal information for claims rehabilitation purposes, for example, to help identify ways to support your recovery, to identify ways to encourage best practice rehabilitation and return to work programs, and claim-related recovery planning in collaboration with you and your MLC Life Insurance case consultant and recovery specialist.

You can opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions by adjusting your preferences within the app, or at the Account creation stage.

The Vivo Companion app uses your geolocation data for calculation of the Health Score, however this information is not accessible by Acenda.

5. Who do we share your personal information with?

We rely on our technology partner Dacadoo AG (trading as dacadoo), incorporated in Switzerland, to provide the Vivo Companion App under licence. We share your personal information with dacadoo and its dacadoo Health Engagement Platform to:

(a) administer the app;
(b) process your personal information, including health information, in order to generate a health score and any other information about your health in the Vivo Companion app; and
(c) integrate your selected third party health and fitness apps or devices to access and retrieve your personal information, including health information.

We may also allow some third party service providers to access your data for incident management, communications and security purposes.

6. Deleting your data

We store your personal data for as long as you have an account with Vivo Companion.

You can delete your account at any time by following the instructions available in the Vivo Companion app or on the website (https://www.vivowellbeing.com.au/vivo-companion). Upon deletion, we will keep your data for 30 days in case you change your mind and would like to reactive your account. After 30 days, your data will be permanently deleted to the extent technically possible.
